The fastest SUV ever created to be made by…Jeep?

What do you think when you think Jeep?

Lumbering, go-anywhere rock crawler?

16 year old girl pulling into her high school’s parking lot?

Hopefully not the Compass, one of the worst vehicles of the 21st century?

how did this ever get approved

Most likely, the one thing you don’t think when you think Jeep is “fast”. Quite the opposite actually.

Jeep wants to change that. They’ve been making a powerful SRT8 version of the Grand Cherokee for two generations now, but you have a greater chance of seeing someone’s grandmother shoplift a pack of condoms than you do seeing an SRT8 Grand Cherokee in the wild.

BEAST

Not to mention the fact that at your local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram/SRT/FIAT/Alfa Romeo/Plymouth/Eagle/AMC/Hoveround dealer, anything SRT has a sign that says “if you even think about touching this, Sweaty Randy from Finance will tackle you repeatedly”.

REPEATEDLY.

To remedy this, Jeep had finally decided to cram the engine from…get this…the HELLCAT…into a Grand Cherokee.

Mind you, that’s a 707 horsepower engine, which makes it the most powerful SUV engine on the market today.

today: photoshop.  tomorrow: REALITY

According to someone present at the Las Vegas FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) meeting, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (as it’s to be called) features the following numbers:

0-60 in 2.7 seconds, 700hp, starting at $79,999

*strained voice to hide the cramps*

Two. Point. Seven. Seconds.

Not only would that make this the fastest SUV ever, beating an ML63 AMG Performance from 0-60 by 2 seconds, it also would give it one of the most insane power-to-weight-to-price ratios in a production vehicle.

the new captain slow

Jeep makes the world’s fastest SUV: what a time to be alive!
