Audi e-tron first drive: Quick, comfortable and familiar – TechCrunch
I see a few of these around town, and they actually look better in person than the photos.
However, even a car enthusiast would be pressed to differentiate between the e-tron and the Q8:
What really caught me from the piece, however, was this:
“The e-tron has a shorter range, but quicker recharging than a Tesla Model X”.
Let’s be fair: buyers of this are going to be cross-shopping between the Model X and the e-tron.
The price difference is around $10k – a lot in the larger scheme, but pretty negligible when financed.
Does a 30-min recharge to 80% battery outweigh longer range?
There’s no way in hell a 3-series wagon should cost this much
Which One Of You Maniacs Is Going To Buy This $73,000 BMW 3 Series Wagon?
There’s no way in hell a 3-series wagon should cost this much.
Not now, not ever.
However, this isn’t a normal car dealer, it’s Century West BMW in the San Fernando Valley, which is known for having a shocking array of BMWs in custom colors with markups that beggar belief.
A personal favorite was an M4 GTS (normal price – around $80-90k) in the showroom for over $200k, simply because they know either a celebrity or foreign money launderer is stupid enough to spend that much.
Their MO is exactly that – order every BMW they can with all the options available, put it in a custom color to justify an extraordinary markup, then put them on the floor with a markup on top of that.
When a sucker – I mean – customer – walks in, offer it as a one of a kind car, and pretend to work out a deal by shaving a few grand off the markup price. Then instead of making the typical couple grand per car that dealers make, make a whole car’s price of profit with that sale.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
By all means – if you have them – spend that $73k on an M4 or something.
And at a different dealership.

God, Citroen used to be so cool.
That steering wheel! The delightful quirkiness!
That backseat! Imagine being cosseted in grid-patterned, plush leather.
Sigh.

This Buick Minivan Has a Shockingly Beautiful Interior
Just in case you think I’m veering towards Sinophobia, I’d like to highlight this stunning land barge in all its glory.
For decades Japan has been making Much Better Minivans than we get in the US due to a predilection for comfortable van travel equivalent to our luxury SUV obsession.
But this is absolutely beautiful.
Stitching’s a little naff to be British but looks BMW in quality, with that Rolls-esque “Starry Night” roof.
Makes a new Navigator look like a Nineties Explorer.
This is a concept of course, but is 8/10 of the way there to a production model that would shuttle around the business class of Beijing.
Whatever the Buick China design studio is doing – can we get some of that here?
