When Dodge announced the Challenger Hellcat, they singlehandedly saved their tepid sports car program.

The Challenger was a courageously-retro also-ran to the Mustang and Camaro, but was heavy, sluggish, and expensive.

And then Dodge said “fine, we’ll shove a 700 horsepower engine in it” and created the most powerful American sports car of the century.

Dodge shoved the same engine into the Charger, the new beloved-car of cops everywhere since Ford stopped making the Crown Victoria after a 147-year run.
